Pepper future prolonged the previous session’s somber mood on Friday owing to slack demand of the commodity in the mandis. Buyers stayed away from the declining market hoping the prices would fall further. Further, reports stating the slight improved production prospects from Kerala and Karnataka and arrival of the new crop also weighed on the sentiment. Meanwhile, overall fundamentals remain firm for the commodity in the medium term.The contract for November delivery was trading at Rs 33355.00, down by 0.91% or Rs 305.00 from its previous closing of Rs 33660.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 7308 lots.
The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 33960.00, down by 0.86% or Rs 295.00 from its previous closing of Rs 34255.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3789 lots on NCDEX.
